What is Tomorrow's Hope?

“Tomorrow” was the street name of Alexi, a 17 year old street girl who was killed by a john who also murdered three other young prostitutes in Portland’s Forrest Park. Tomorrow didn’t want to be a prostitute, no child does, but she felt like she had no choice. She was someone’s little girl and Portland is full of little girls (and boys too) whose lives are being taken by the notorious sex trafficking trade. It's been said that Portland is number two in the nation for the trafficking of children in the sex trade.

Today many agencies are rising up to rescue victims from this modern day slavery. But, what about intervening in a young persons life before they become a victim? What about getting to these at risk children before the pimps can recruit them? Tomorrow's Hope is a new ministry working to do just that; prevent young people from falling prey to sex traffickers. Our goal is to see that the Portland metro will no longer have a market of young girls for the pimps to prey on and help avoid the another tragic case like Tomorrow. To find out more on how we see this happening please read on...

The Vision

Build a proven intervention and prevention program that reaches the young people most at risk from falling into the sex trade and turn them into productive and empowered individuals.

How

• By using the methods taught to us by former sex traffickers, we will go find the vulnerable young women in schools, malls, transit, and clubs
• Through Holy Spirit lead encounters and proven outreach techniques, we will build trust, hope and long term relationships that focus on meeting their deep need for attention and love.
• By developing our own assets and working with community assets, we will bring them solutions to their emotional, materials, spiritual and psychological needs.
o Safe Houses, provided by trained and equipped families who willing to take a girl for up to 14 days.
o Housing placement and assistance.
o Assistance with their schooling needs.
o Assistance with job search and partnerships to meet their financial and materials needs.
o Connect them to a community who will welcome them and provide accountability and nurture them.
o Connect them to the full range of services available in the community after their triage.
• The prevention team will work on a relationship model, becoming sisters, brothers, fathers and mothers to these needy young people and will continue to support them well beyond their “at risk” stage.
